Early Years

John “Gio” Eule was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. His musical journey began at age 11 after witnessing The Beatles perform at Cleveland Municipal Stadium in August 1966. Invited by his friend Steve Anderson—son of the late Ernie Anderson (Ghoulardi and the Voice of ABC)—John was inspired to form a band with Anderson on drums and himself on guitar.

Early Career

After relocating to Mentor, Ohio, John performed in cover bands at venues like the Painesville YMCA, Mentor Burger Chef, and private events. In 1974, he joined the US Navy, forming a band that played rock covers to large audiences in the hangar bay of the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). Post-Navy in 1976, he returned to Mentor, working at Record Shack delivering phonograph records to the Chicago area.

Los Angeles and Original Music

In late 1978, John transferred to the newly opened Record Shack in Los Angeles. As a Harley Davidson owner, he performed in biker cover bands before joining an original LA band as guitarist and backup singer. Frustrated by not getting his songs into the setlist, he formed Harpeggio with his then-wife, harpist Peggy Skomal. This 5-piece band showcased his original songs and an electric classical harp, earning him the nickname “Gio” (short for Giovanni).

During this time, Gio produced a 45 record under “Gio and the Proteens,” with “Born to Surf” on the A-side and “There Was a Time” on the B-side. The latter later appeared on his album *It’s Always Halloween in Hollywood*. After a Harpeggio performance, Neal Doughty of REO Speedwagon approached Gio to co-write songs. Together, they created “Someday Soon,” recorded with Neal on keys/key bass, Gary Richrath on guitar, and Gio on vocals.

Giojamm and Beyond

Harpeggio performed at major LA clubs for two years, recording in the studio before disbanding. Gio continued writing and recording in his home studio. In 2003, he formed the 4-piece band Giojamm, performing on the LA club circuit and releasing *It’s Always Halloween in Hollywood*. In the late 2000s, he collaborated with musician friends for gigs at places like the Hard Rock Café in Hollywood under the Giojamm name.

Currently, Gio lives in Nosara, Costa Rica, performing solo originals and classic rock songs at local venues. He continues to write and record whenever possible and is working on a follow-up album to *It’s Always Halloween in Hollywood*.
